Desert Rose Hacienda - Tempe

Nestled in one of the best neighborhoods in Tempe on a large corner lot, the Desert Rose is perfect for those special occasions where the home is the destination. Every detail of this hacienda was designed by Phoenix based Deborah Benz Design to celebrate and honor the history of this beloved home.

From the hand carved beams salvaged from a church in Tucson to the Mexican tiled roof revived from a historical house in Phoenix, this home is rich in Arizona culture and heritage. In every room, you will find splashes of pink, a timeless color found in Latin American architecture and design, and a crucial design element at Desert Rose as this home has always been known in the neighborhood as “the pink house.” We have incorporated so many special and unique elements in the design of this home, from the custom iron staircase and riser tiles, to the stunning Papago Mountain mural to the exquisite spanish tiles in each room, that we hope your stay at Desert Rose is the one of kind experience that you and your loved ones have been waiting for.

Located in a beautiful and quiet Tempe neighborhood, close to everything including Old Town Scottsdale, Mills Avenue shops/ASU, Tempe Marketplace and spring training venues, this 5 bedroom, 6 bath, two story hacienda sits on a nearly 0.5 acre lot. 

Upon entering the home, you will find a grand spanish style staircase and entry with ceilings covered by those magnificent hand carved beams. Be sure to pose for pictures on the staircase while gazing down into the dedicated game room with billiards and 65” smart TV. 

Then move on to the mural room for more pictures in front of the stunning Papago Mountain mural by Melody Smith, a local artist. An oversized antique mirror makes for great mirror pics of the mural. This room also has the most comfortable couches to lounge and enjoy a movie on the 65” smart TV or a game of Clue with friends and family.

Off the mural room, is the cozy library with a swing chair that is the perfect spot to read or just chill. 

The library then leads into the living room with a wine cellar and sitting area for everyone to gather and enjoy a drink. The large dining table for 12 is the place for everyone to celebrate being together. 

Off the living room, you will find the spacious ground level master suite with access to the outside patio. This master bedroom has a walk in closet, make up table, smart TV and comfy reading nook. 

Freshly updated with brand new appliances throughout the home, you will find a timeless pink kitchen with all the modern appliances for your cooking needs. A fully stocked kitchen including a coffee bar with complimentary coffee and tea is always part of the stay. The gorgeous brick kitchen fireplace is a unique feature of this historical home that you can’t miss. 

Full size washer and dryer and 2 additional half baths are also located on the ground level. 

Upstairs are four additional bedrooms, including a king master suite with a sauna and a third master suite with 2 queen beds and full size tub bath.  Both masters have ensuite bathrooms and direct access to the upstairs covered patio. Additional queen guest bedroom and a twin over full bunk bedroom share a renovated bathroom with gorgeous spanish tiles. 

The upstairs outside covered patio has a large sectional with giant connect four and giant jenga in case the beautiful sunsets from the balcony are just too much to take in. 

The gardens at Desert Rose are a destination in themselves. Expansive lawns lined by a citrus grove and herb garden are at the east end of the resort backyard. In the center of the yard is the fully gated, heated, sparkling diving pool surrounded by a beautiful rose garden. An oversized outdoor wood burning fireplace and seating area is across the west lawn. 

Exit the billiard room through the patio doors and you will enter the Desert Rose Cantina where you can dine al fresco while listening to the soothing sounds of the tiered fountain. A BBQ is ready for the grill master.  Enjoy this romantic zen garden on one of the rocking chairs or gliders. Or take a picture with Rosita who is always ready to welcome guests. 

For those who love to celebrate game day with friends, step outside to the covered patio along the north side of the house where a 70” smart TV and pub tables are ready to host your friends and families for the big game. Or enjoy a game of ping pong for some real competition. 

There is no shortage of space or things to do at the Desert Rose.
